Gauze, light, open-weave fabric made of cotton and used for surgical dressings.

Have you ever noticed the similarity between the word Gauze, and the name of the beautiful Palestinian city Gaza?

The similarity between these two is not a mere coincidence, and it has a story behind it.

The word Gauze is derived from the Palestinian city Gaza, where gauze was first produced in the thirteenth century, and it was used in wound dressing.

Gauze began to be exported to the world at the end of the Middle Ages, and until today gauze has maintained its name that originated from the beautiful Palestinian city where it was first produced, Gaza.

In 1967, the Israeli occupation banned the gauze industry in Gaza.

Ironically, yet heart-wrenchingly, Gaza, the city that brought gauze to the world, and dressed its wounds is bleeding, and it lacks gauze, along with all kinds of necessary medical supplies, and the world is turning a blind eye to Gaza’s bleeding wounds, while Israel keeps opening new wounds to the beautiful city of Gaza, and mercilessly bombing it.

Israel has recently murdered more than 22000 Palestinians whom are mostly children, and there are at least 57000 injured Palestinians by Israeli strikes, and with the lack of medical supplies and the continuous attacks of hospitals, injured Palestinians are not getting the proper medical care they need, and their lives are in danger.

To Gaza, the city that dressed all of our wounds, I wish for her wounds to stop bleeding, and to heal and never be opened again.
